Teeth whitening

Have you ever felt uncomfortable smiling because of yellow teeth? Having yellow or stained teeth is a common dental issue most people deal with. But now, several cosmetic treatments offer a non-invasive, quick, and affordable way to get white teeth. Dental whitening or bleaching treatments, in-office or in-home, help in substantially improving the brightness and whiteness of your teeth. At our clinic, we plan a comprehensive dental whitening treatment to give you a bright and beautiful smile.

Causes of Teeth Staining

  • Age (Teeth darken as you age)
  • Thin enamel
  • Habitual consumption of dark-colored food and beverages (soda, red wine, carrots, etc.)
  • Smoking
  • Some drugs and chemicals
  • Trauma
  • Habitual teeth grinding

What are the Different Whitening Options?

  • In-Office Whitening

Through this option, you can experience a significant color change in the shortest span. For the in-office whitening procedure, we use peroxide gel in high concentration to provide quick results to you. We start by protecting your gums with a rubber dam and applying the gel or solution to your teeth. After letting it stay for 15 to 20 minutes, we remove the gel. We might recommend you to continue with the in-home system depending upon the severity of stains.

  • Take-Home Kits

As their name says, you can take these dental whitening kits to your home and do the procedure yourself. The in-home teeth whitening kits are professionally dispensed. They use a low-concentration peroxide gel that is easy to use. You can leave the gel for an hour or longer or as recommended by the manufacturer. The package contains bleaching trays on which you can apply the gel and place them on your teeth.

  • Over-the-Counter Products

Over-the-counter bleaching products are store-bought teeth whitening kits. These kits contain bleaching solutions with a low concentration of bleaching chemicals compared to professionally dispensed in-home whitening kits. These kits come with one-size-fits-all trays, paint-on applicators, or strips used to apply the gel on your teeth. However, these kits are capable of bleaching only the front teeth, unlike custom trays that brighten all teeth.

Aftercare of Bleached Teeth

  • In some cases, we recommend at-home follow-up or maintenance whitening immediately or once in a while.
  • We recommend you not consume dark-colored foods or beverages for a week after undergoing the process.
  • We recommend using a straw to sip dark-colored beverages.
  • We suggest you practice good oral hygiene - brushing and flossing your teeth after having meals and before going to bed.
